The 2006–07 Boston Bruins season was the 83rd season of operation for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise. The season followed a period of significant transition for the team, marked by the arrival of a new coaching staff and several high-profile free-agent signings.
The Bruins finished the regular season with a record of 35 wins, 41 losses, and 6 overtime/shootout losses, totaling 76 points. This performance resulted in a fifth-place finish in the Northeast Division and a 13th-place finish in the Eastern Conference, causing the team to miss the Stanley Cup playoffs for the second consecutive year.
Prior to the season, the organization appointed Dave Lewis as the head coach, succeeding Mike Sullivan. The team also made substantial roster changes during the 2006 free-agency period. Most notably, the Bruins signed defenseman Zdeno Chára and center Marc Savard. Chára was immediately named the team captain, a role that had remained vacant since the trade of Joe Thornton during the previous season.
Statistically, Marc Savard led the team in scoring with 96 points (22 goals and 74 assists), finishing among the league's top scorers. Patrice Bergeron contributed 70 points, while goaltending duties were primarily shared between Tim Thomas and Hannu Toivonen. Thomas appeared in 66 games, recording a .905 save percentage.
Following the conclusion of the season and the team's failure to qualify for the postseason, the Bruins' management dismissed head coach Dave Lewis. He was replaced by Claude Julien for the subsequent season. General manager Peter Chiarelli, who had taken over the role officially in the summer of 2006, continued to oversee the rebuilding process of the roster during this period.
