2001 Gent–Wevelgem

The 2001 Gent–Wevelgem was the 63rd edition of the Gent–Wevelgem cycling race, a professional one-day road race held annually in Belgium. It took place on April 11, 2001, covering a distance of 214 kilometers, starting in Gent and finishing in Wevelgem. The race was the fifth event of the 2001 UCI Road World Cup, a series of ten major professional road races throughout the season.

The course is known for its flat sections, open to crosswinds, and a series of short, sharp climbs (known as bergs) in the Flemish Ardennes, including the Kemmelberg, which often proves decisive. The 2001 edition saw a challenging race that culminated in a sprint finish from a small leading group.
