The 2000–01 International Hockey League (IHL) season was the 56th and final season of the North American minor‑professional ice‑hockey league. The season began in October 2000 and concluded with the Turner Cup playoffs in the spring of 2001.

Regular season
Each team played a 82‑game schedule. The Chicago Wolves finished the regular season with the league’s best record and secured the regular‑season title. Points totals and win‑loss records for each club were recorded in the official IHL standings.
Turner Cup playoffs
The postseason featured a four‑round playoff bracket. The Grand Rapids Griffins captured the Turner Cup, defeating the Orlando Solar Bears in the championship series. The Griffins’ victory marked the franchise’s first Turner Cup championship.
Notable events
- League dissolution – Following the conclusion of the 2000–01 season, the IHL announced it would cease operations. Financial difficulties and competition with the American Hockey League (AHL) were cited as primary factors.
- AHL absorption – Six of the IHL’s clubs—Chicago Wolves, Grand Rapids Griffins, Houston Aeros, Milwaukee Admirals, Orlando Solar Bears, and Cincinnati Cyclones—were admitted to the AHL for the 2001–02 season. The remaining clubs either folded or were sold.
- Retirement of the Turner Cup – With the IHL’s termination, the historic Turner Cup was retired from professional play. The trophy would later be revived for use in the United States Hockey League (USHL) junior league.
