The 1st Fleet Patrol Ship Force (Indonesian: Satuan Kapal Patroli Komando Armada I, abbreviated as Satrol Koarmada I) is an operational unit within the Indonesian Navy's 1st Fleet Command. It is part of the Indonesian 1st Fleet Sea Security Group Operations Unit and the Command for operational development under the 1st Fleet Command.
Role and Responsibilities: The unit is responsible for developing the strength and combat capability of warships under its command in the fields of maritime security, limited surface warfare, and limited air defense warfare. It also conducts personnel development to improve the skills and professionalism of its soldiers, as well as training development to enhance the combat readiness of its elements.
Size and Composition: The force comprises at least 32 warships, with some sources indicating up to 62 ships under its command. Its vessels include a variety of patrol boat classes such as the FPB-57 class, Sibarau class (ex-Australian Attack-class patrol boats), Pari class (PC-40M fast patrol boats), Dorang class (PC-60M), Boa class, and numerous smaller patrol craft (KAL-class vessels).
Headquarters: The unit is based at the naval base in Belawan, Medan, Indonesia.
Liquidation and Restructuring: In January 2018, the Indonesian Navy carried out a restructuring that involved the liquidation of the Fleet Patrol Ship Force and the Naval Base Maritime Security Unit. This led to the establishment of Main Naval Base Patrol Ship Units and the creation of the Maritime Potential Staff, centralized under the 1st Fleet Command. The ceremony was presided over by Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, Admiral Ade Supandi, on January 22, 2018, at the Sunda Pier, Koarmada I Unit Complex, Pondok Dayung, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.
