The 1988 East Coast Conference (ECC) men's basketball tournament was held from March 6–8, 1988, at the Towson Center in Towson, Maryland. Towson State University hosted the tournament. Regular season champion Drexel defeated Rider in the championship game, earning the ECC's automatic bid to the 1988 NCAA Tournament. This marked Drexel's second ECC Tournament championship. The East Coast Conference was a NCAA Division I athletic conference that existed from 1958 to 1994, primarily composed of schools in the Mid-Atlantic region. Participating teams in the tournament were determined by their regular season finish within the conference standings. The tournament format was single-elimination.
