1949 Turkish Football Championship

The 1949 Turkish Football Championship (Turkish: Türkiye Futbol Şampiyonası) was the 14th edition of the competition, organized by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF). It was held in June 1949, with all Final Group matches played at the 19 Mayıs Stadium in Ankara.

Champion: MKE Ankaragücü won their first and only national championship title by finishing top of the Final Group undefeated, with three victories, nine goals scored, and four conceded.

Runners-up: Galatasaray

Format: The champions of the three major regional leagues—Istanbul (Galatasaray), Ankara (Ankaragücü), and İzmir (İzmirspor)—qualified directly for the Final Group. A fourth spot was determined via a qualification play-off, which was won by Eskişehir Demirspor after defeating Adana Demirspor and Samsun Fenerspor in a mini-tournament held from 21–23 May 1949.

This edition was the 14th of the Turkish Football Championship, a competition that ran from 1924 to 1951 and served as Turkey's national football championship before the establishment of the professional Süper Lig.
