1935 SANFL season

The 1935 SANFL season was the 39th season of the South Australian National Football League (SANFL), Australia's premier Australian rules football competition in South Australia. The season commenced on 27 April and concluded on 5 October with the Grand Final, which saw Port Adelaide defeat South Adelaide by 44 points to claim their 11th SANFL premiership.

Eight clubs competed in the league during the 1935 season:

  • South Adelaide

  • West Adelaide

The minor round consisted of 14 matches for each team. Port Adelaide finished as minor premiers, topping the ladder with 12 wins and 2 losses.

Finals Series: The finals series followed a modified "Page-McIntyre" system.

  • First Semi-Final: South Adelaide (2nd) defeated Norwood (3rd).
  • Second Semi-Final: Port Adelaide (1st) defeated Sturt (4th).
  • Preliminary Final: South Adelaide defeated Sturt.

Individual Awards:

  • Magarey Medal: The league's highest individual honour for the best and fairest player was awarded to Jack Cockburn of South Adelaide.
  • Ken Farmer Medal (Leading Goalkicker): The leading goalkicker for the season was Bob Quinn of Port Adelaide, who kicked 92 goals.
