The 1912 North Carolina gubernatorial election was held on November 5, 1912, to elect the governor of North Carolina. Incumbent Democratic Governor William Walton Kitchin was ineligible to seek re-election due to term limits.
The general election featured three major candidates:
- Locke Craig (Democratic), former state senator and U.S. Representative
- Thomas Settle III (Republican), attorney and former U.S. Attorney
- Iredell Meares (Progressive), attorney and former state legislator
Locke Craig won the election with approximately 149,000 votes (53.5%), defeating Thomas Settle III who received approximately 99,000 votes (35.6%) and Iredell Meares who received approximately 29,000 votes (10.4%). Craig's victory maintained Democratic control of the governorship, a pattern consistent with North Carolina politics of the era. Craig was inaugurated as the 53rd governor of North Carolina on January 15, 1913.
