Žehušice

Žehušice is a municipality and village located in the Kolín District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. Situated approximately 9 kilometres (6 mi) south-east of Kolín and 60 km (37 mi) east of Prague, it serves as a local administrative and cultural centre.

Žehušice lies in the fertile Polabí lowlands, a region characterized by agricultural land. The village is positioned on the left bank of the Klejnárka River, which flows into the Elbe (Labe) further north. The landscape is generally flat to gently rolling, typical of the central Bohemian basin.

The first written mention of Žehušice dates back to 1238, indicating its long-standing presence in the region. Throughout its history, the village has been associated with the local noble families who owned the Žehušice estate and castle.
