Żmijewo-Szawły

Żmijewo-Szawły (pronounced [ʐmiˈjɛvɔ ˈʂavwɨ]) is a village in east-central Poland, located in the administrative district of Gmina Stupsk, within Mława County, Masovian Voivodeship.

Etymology

The second part of the name, "Szawły," is derived from Szaweł, one of the co-owners of Żmijewo Kościelne and one of the patrons of the parish church there. The settlement is part of the historic okolica szlachecka (noble neighborhood) of Żmijewo, which includes several hamlets such as Żmijewo-Kucze, Żmijewo-Pianki, Żmijewo-Strzezogi, Żmijewo-Włosty (Gaje), Żmijewo-Szawły, Żmijewo-Trojany, and Żmijewo-Zalesie.
