Šafarsko

Šafarsko is a small settlement located in the Municipality of Razkrižje in northeastern Slovenia. It is situated within the historical region of Styria (Slovene: Štajerska) and is part of the Mura Statistical Region (Slovene: Pomurska).

Geography and Location: The settlement of Šafarsko lies close to the Slovenian border with Croatia. It is positioned along a regional road connecting the towns of Ljutomer and Murska Sobota. The landscape surrounding Šafarsko is characteristic of the Prlekija sub-region, featuring rolling hills, agricultural fields, and vineyards. Its geographical proximity to the point where the borders of Slovenia, Croatia, and Hungary converge (though not directly at a tripoint) makes it part of a culturally rich borderland area.

History and Economy: Like many small villages in the Prlekija region, Šafarsko's history is closely tied to its agricultural heritage. The local economy is predominantly based on farming, including the cultivation of crops and viticulture, for which Prlekija is renowned. While Šafarsko itself does not host major historical landmarks, it contributes to the rural character and traditional way of life of the Razkrižje municipality. The broader local community is served by the parish church of Saint Catherine in the nearby administrative center of Razkrižje.
