Čtyřkoly is a municipality and village located in the Benešov District within the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. Situated approximately 11 kilometres (7 mi) north of Benešov and 28 km (17 mi) southeast of the capital city Prague, it lies predominantly on the right bank of the Sázava River.
The municipality encompasses several smaller settlements, including Čtyřkoly proper, Javorník, and Lštění. The landscape around Čtyřkoly is characterized by a mix of forests and agricultural land, typical of the Central Bohemian Uplands. The Sázava River, a popular destination for water sports and recreation, significantly influences the local character and economy, attracting tourists, especially during the summer.
Historically, the area, like many in the region, has been primarily agricultural. The village's name itself, literally meaning "four wheels" in Czech, suggests a connection to transport or perhaps an old trade route, though its primary modern significance is as a place name. Čtyřkoly maintains a local administrative structure and provides basic services for its residents.
