Álex Angulo (12 April 1963 – 20 May 2014) was a Spanish film, television, and theater actor known for his versatile performances in over 100 productions, particularly in Spanish horror, drama, and comedy genres.
Overview
Born Alejandro José Angulo Lerena in Erandio, Biscay, Spain, Angulo began his acting career in the early 1980s after studying at the Municipal School of Drama in Bilbao. He gained national prominence with his role as Román in Acción mutante (1993) and later achieved international recognition portraying the Doctor in Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth (2006). Over a career spanning three decades, Angulo appeared in notable films such as The Day of the Beast (1995), Mujeres al borde de un ataque de ninjas (2008), and Alatriste (2006). He was a regular presence on Spanish television, featuring in series like Los protegidos (2010–2012). Angulo received several award nominations, including a Goya nomination for Best Supporting Actor for The Day of the Beast. He died in a traffic accident near Valencia on 20 May 2014.
